The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary has been serving patients for nearly 200 years. Our advanced diagnosis and treatment capabilities and research programs place NYEE among the top specialty hospitals in the nation.
High quality health care, however, comes at an enormous price. In order for NYEE to continue its excellence into a third century, we rely on you, our devoted and generous patients and friends, for support.

A donation to the NYEE General Fund provides much needed support to ensure that we can continue to provide exceptional specialty care to everyone in need of our services – regardless of a person’s ability to pay. Children comprise more than a third of our patients. Donors like you can help us provide them with the most sophisticated diagnostic technologies available. Your generosity enables us to attract the finest physicians and nurses in the region, implement needed renovations, conduct research, and enhance services to our extended community.
Unrestricted giving
Unrestricted giving through our General Fund is one of the most precious resources available to The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. An unrestricted gift simply is a contribution which is not directed toward a particular program or service. This most flexible way to support the Infirmary allows us to fund programs and services which are in the greatest need.
By supporting NYEE’s General Fund, you are helping us with Children’s Services, patient care, research, infrastructure improvement, purchaser of advanced technology and equipment, physician training, and so much more. Indeed, unrestricted giving is considered the lifeblood of the Infirmary, and without it, we could not exist.
Restricted Gifts
Gifts of any amount are deeply appreciated and can be restricted for a specific program, medical research, capital improvements, purchase of sophisticated equipment, and countless other opportunities.
Below are just a few examples of ways you can support The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary . Of course, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss other areas of interest and help structure a gift that is just right for you.
Please feel free to contact Carol Bohdan, Vice President for Development at (212) 979-4019 for assistance.
Naming opportunities start at $50,000 and enable donors to name a special program, physical location or fund. Recognition is customized for each donor and can include publicity, plaques, signage and other citations. Examples of Naming Gifts include a generous gift of $1.5 million to name The Bendheim Family Retina Center, a leader in comprehensive eye services.
Named Endowed Gifts
Named endowed gifts starting at $350,000 and more are vital to help us build our endowed fund and provide specific programs with a steady flow of support. Recently, we established our first endowed chair with a $2 million gift to endow The Shelley and Steven Einhorn Distinguished Chair of Ophthalmology. Opportunities are available across all of our specialties, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery to name Clinical Chairs, Research Chairs and Associate/Assistant Chairs as well as Professorships.
Please contact us at (212) 979-4019 to learn more about these vitally important opportunities. For more information you can also download the brochure, The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary Invites You to Help Us.
